Initial Tone Report:
It's been a long time waiting to hear this set-up. I've been saying that the neck joint
plays a big roll in the overall "thickness" of guitars this size. This most
certainly supports the theory.
No matter what woods, thickness, pickups the original Thorn shape could never get the LP
grunt or wooliness. They were always on the articulate side....which I'm certainly not
complaining about ,
just stating a fact.
Well...here it is.
Even though some of the specs are different from a LP, that really thick deep low end is
there - especially in the neck position.
The Lollars really break up and push the amp, even at moderate volumes, but rolling down
the volumes on the guitar smoothes it out and provides the sweetest jazz tones.
Hearing Cesar cover such a huge range of tones and styles within a 45 minute period
assures me that this guitar will handle practically anything you throw at it....thin funk
with the bridge pickup split, blues in the middle position, rock in the bridge, and jazz
all night long in the neck setting. Start tweaking volumes and splitting...it's all there.
On to the playability:
By joining the body one fret further than on a LP makes the hugest difference. The
contoured heel fits your hand perfectly when you slide it all the way up and your pinky
finger aligns with the last fret. There doesn't need to be any more wood removed in the
joint, it wouldn't help, it's like a glove as is.
Enough back patting ( )...this guitar simply kicks
ass.
Enjoy it Cesar!!!
