Thorn # 049 was designed to
compliment my PRS Custom 24. I had Ron build the neck to match my CU24 so that it
would be easy to swap between the two guitars without having to adjust to differences in
necks. I did change the fret wire on the Thorn to 6105 which is a taller fret than
PRS uses. In addition to the H-S-H pickup configuration, I had Ron install a
GraphTech Ghost piezo system in the guitar too. Not only does the Ghost system mimic
an acoustic guitar sound, but it also has a 13-pin hexpander output for using with guitar
synthesizers. It is really wild being able to play keyboard sounds with my
guitar. It is pretty awesome what you can do with one instrument that can produce
your typical guitar sounds plus an acoustic sound and a synth sound all at the same
time. I've never seen another guitar with this much versatility! Top it all
off with a Brazilian rosewood neck and #049 turned out to be one awesome guitar. - Mick Youmans Click here if you would like to see construction photos of this guitar. |
